Provenance

Provenance

Maria Trumbull Dana (1867–1961), New Haven, Conn., by 1946; given to the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Conn., 1946

Note 1: According to the donor, the teapot was owned in the family of Col. John Trumbull (1756–1843). The donor was the great-granddaughter of Jonathan Trumbull (1740–1809), a brother of John Trumbull. The teapot was likely first owned by a member of that generation and descended through the family.
