The edition of the lyrics and music of the National anthem currently in use was approved by the May 27th, 1977 Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. Its widespread use was introduced beginning on September 1st, 1977. \r\nAt first in the history of our country, an article about the National anthem of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was included in the new Constitution (Foundational law) of the USSR, adopted on October 7th, 1977.\r\nIn bourgeois states, official anthems glorify the ideas of the exploitative classes. The revolutionary masses on the path of the struggle created their own militant songs - anthems. Thus, at the time of the French bourgeois revolution of the end of the 18th century, the "Marseillaise" appeared, written by the poet and composer Rouget de Lisle. \r\nBefore the Great October Socialist Revolution, the anthem of the Party of Russian Revolutionary Social Democrats, and of the international proletariat, was "The International," which was born in the fire of the Paris Commune (the music is by P. De Geyter to the words written by E. Pottier). It also became the first anthem of the Soviet republic. Its words "we will build our new world" very precisely expressed the aspirations of the revolutionary nation. \r\nRelated to the victory of socialism in the USSR and the fundamental historical changes in the country, a question emerged concerning a new National anthem, which would encapsulate the essence of the socialist order and be in tune with this new age. \r\nThe new National anthem of the USSR (music by A. V. Aleksandrov, text by S. V. Mikhailkov and AG. G. El-Registan) was approved by a resolution of the Council of People's Commisars of the USSR in 1943 and was first used on the radio at night on January 1st, 1944 and its widespread use was introduced starting on March 15th of the same year. The January Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (of Bolsheviks) decided in 1944 to keep "the International" as the anthem of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.\r\n\r\nLL: 9
