Provenance

Provenance

Possibly Wayne Cancro, New Jersey, by about June 2004 [see note 1]; sold to SusAnna Grae and Joel B. Grae, New York and Lake Peekskill, New York, June 15, 2004; given to the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Conn., 2010

Note 1: Documentation provided by the donors suggests that a group of ten “Jenne” pots from Mali were purchased from Wayne Cancro (handwritten note regarding group of ten Jenne pots, June 15, 2004, copy in curatorial file).

However, research, has been unable to confirm which Djenne pots from the Grae collection, which number sixteen in total, were acquired at that time.
