Art Museum Scholar Summer Internships

Art Museum Scholar Summer Internships are eight weeks in duration and come with a stipend of up to $3,500.

The internships at the Gallery and the Yale Center for British Art aim to familiarize students with the operations of museums and curatorial departments and provide an opportunity to work on a project related to a specific aspect of the Yale collections. Students seeking opportunities with other art museums must procure such internships on their own. Although the awards are open to Yale students in any field, preference will be given to students whose interests lie in American art and/or British art.

Eligibility and Requirements

Internships will be awarded to students who demonstrate superior performance in their respective fields. Applications must include the following:

  • A cover letter describing your interest in a particular aspect of museum collections or operations and the relevance of the internship to your larger goals
  • A transcript of your undergraduate record (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)
  • Two letters of recommendation (emailed directly by your references)

Non-Gallery and Non-Center Internships

If you are seeking funding for an unpaid internship at an external museum, your cover letter should describe the internship and the status of your application. A letter confirming a secured internship will also be required.

Applications for internships are not being considered at this time. Please check back in January 2024 for updates.
