Luce (1898– 1967), Ridgefield, Conn., and New York, March 22, 1955; transferred to his wife, Clare Boothe Luce (1903–1987) New York, 1967 [see note 1]; given to the Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, Conn., 1969

Note 1: Henry R. Luce bequeathed the painting to the Gallery in 1962, with Clare Booth Luce retaining life interest. In 1969, Clare Boothe Luce completed the bequest.
