Note 1: According to W.M. Jacobs, the tables had been the property of "a very wealthy woman in New York State" (Jacobs to W.P. Belknap, July 28, 1942, Art Gallery files). Jacobs acquired them from this unidentified woman's daughter in Michigan before 1942.
