Obverse Description

Obverse Description: Margin: "5000" in black ink written repeatedly in l., r., top and bottom. Middle medallion consists of effigy of the goddess Athena r. wearing attick helmet and on l. and r. sides of medallion has embellished designs and inside reads "5000. Below medallion reads "DRACHMAI PENTE CHILIADES" inside frame. "PLERWTEAI EPI TH EMFANISEI / ATHENESI TE 1 SEPTEMBRIOU 1932," written below. Two pilasters (Corinthian order?) hold up architrave with floral pattern. "TRAPEZA TES ELLADOS" printed inside frame. On upper l. and r. of field "A'" for the Greek Alpha. "O TAMIAS / (Signed, unclear name)," "O DIOIKETES / (Signed, unclear name)," "O GENIKOS GRAMATEUS / (Signed, unclear name)" There is and purple, green, orange and blue geometric design that looks like anthemion/honeysuckle pattern behind the medallions. Background consists of "TRAPEZA TES ELLADOS" repeated in blue ink. Outside outer margin, below: "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY"

Reverse Description

Reverse Description: Outer margin consists of "5000" in black ink written repeatedly in l., r., top and bottom. Green and blue floral pattern forms inner margin. In four corners have "5000" inside four (angled) frames. In middle there is a mural? of the mythical griffin with plant under arch. Above "TRAPEZA TES ELLADOS" inside frame and below "EKDOSIS PRWTE" inside frame. L. and r. medallion consists of "5000" inside floral shape with embellished background. Pink and blue background design. Outside margin, bottom: "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY."
