Obverse Description: ERUBBERVNG AN DEN 9. NOVEMBER 1918 / FREIHEIT / GLEICHHEIT / BRUDERLICHKEIT. To Commemorate the 9th of November 1918 (Weimarer Waschweiber). This date marks the abdiction of the Kaiser and the renunciation of the throne by the Crown Prince, it also means the birth of the "Weimar Republic." I"In memory of NOvember 9th 1918" In exergue "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity." THe young woman represents the new Republic, she hurries to help extinguish the fire in the House of Hohenzollern. (Eagle head bears the physiognomy of Willhelm II).

WOHL - / GEMUT WEITER WURSTELND, WIE WENN WELTKRIEGS / WILDES WUTEN / WENIG WICHTIG / WARE. "we washer women of WEimar are washing for weeks the repugnant laundry of insane, wild, antagonists, but keeping it up in good spirits as if World War's wild raging was of little importance." 1919, The building on top of reverse is the CIty THeater of Weimar, the seat of the German National Assembly. Initials K.G. at 6:00 under washer women.
