Provenance:
Purchased by Yale from Walter Banko, a dealer in Montreal. Mr. Banko bought it from Patrick Matton, the son of Andre Matton, a French private collector, who bought it from the dealer Elie Borowski, Basel, in 1970.
A French Certificate of Cultural Property has been obtained, and a Cultural Property Export License has been obtained to export the portrait out of the European Union. The original invoice and all relevant export paperwork were given to the buyer at purchase.
