Organized in celebration of the gift of the Hunter Thompson Collection of Javanese gold to the Gallery, this symposium coincides with an exhibition of objects from the collection and with the Gallery’s publication of a new edition of John Miksic’s catalogue Old Javanese Gold, first published in 1990 and now brought up to date to reflect important archaeological discoveries.
