Sadako Ohki, Japan Foundation Associate Curator of Japanese Art, elucidates the art and culture of early 17th-century Japan as it relates to an enigmatic six-panel folding screen (byōbu) depicting several kimono draped over a lacquered stand. Accompanying works on display include a kimono, two paintings of a bath scene, a contemporary ceramic object that looks like it is made of cloth, and a textile album on view for the first time.
