According to Dr. Lyon's notecards, he purchased this set in 1877 from Mrs. Mehitable Dayton of Glastonbury, CT. Mrs. Dayton was then 90 years old and told Dr. Lyon she had purchased the thirty-piece set new in 1806 at a Hartford, CT store. Lyon's collection was bought by Francis P. Garvan.
