After the voluntary union of Soviet republics into a single fraternal union, the red flag became nationwide for the Soviet land. The placing of the golden hammer and sickle and five-pointed star at the upper corner of the flag near the staff can also be traced to this period. \r\nThe hammer and sickle symbolize the indestructible union of the working class and the peasants.
