An annual compilation of themed essays and Gallery news, the Yale University Art Gallery Bulletin publishes original scholarship on works in the Gallery’s collection. The 2019 Bulletin focuses on acquisitions, including one of the first ancient sculptures to come to Yale; ritual textiles from Borneo; a stunningly complex Kongo power figure; a unique series of late nineteenth-century American banknotes; a variety of exciting technical and contextual analyses of works ranging from ancient limestone sculptures to modern paintings and prints; new discoveries from a technical art history class taught by conservators; and much more. Essays by Gallery curators and fellows, as well as outside scholars, showcase the exciting research that the museum’s ever-growing collection continues to inspire.
