From Any Angle: Photographs from the Collection of Doris Bry
2009 Honorable Mention, Exhibition Catalogues, New England Museum Association Publication Awards Competition
The third in the Yale University Art Gallery’s series of student-curated exhibitions, From Any Angle: Photographs from the Collection of Doris Bry celebrates this noted scholar’s remarkable collection of over 200 photographs, currently on long-term loan to the Gallery. This beautifully illustrated, intimate catalogue includes essays on Bry’s collection by Richard Benson and Paul Katz, as well as selected entries by the student curators on individual photographs shown in the exhibition. Each entry lends a unique perspective to the objects, by Berenice Abbott, Walker Evans, Laura Gilpin, Irving Penn, and others, while shedding light on Bry’s collection as a whole.
