This miniature is part of a set of five painted by John Trumbull, four of which depict members of the artist’s family. Catherine Wadsworth, daughter of Jeremiah Wadsworth and sister of Harriet Wadsworth (1832.35), was a cousin of the artist. Catherine was married to General Nathaniel Terry, a prominent Hartford, Connecticut, lawyer.
