According to a handwritten label pasted inside the case this clock was ordered from London in 1766 by Ezra Stiles. It descended to his daughter, Emelia Stiles Leavitt; to her daughter Amelia Stiles Jenkins; to her daughter, Amelia Leavitt Foote; to her son and daughter, Charles and Sarah Foote; to Charles' daughter, Amelia Foote Roe; gift to Sterling Memorial Library, Yale University, 1955
