Note 1: Robert Martin purchased Textile from an Artisan center in Lomé, Togo. Three of the artists from the center were photographed working by Robert Martin. (see images in media and interview with Robert Martin in Mystic, Conn., May 17, 2021, notes in curatorial object file)

Note 2: Robert Martin was stationed in Togo for a training period as a school construction volunteer with the United States Peace Corps between October 6, 1974–December 19, 1974. He lived in both Kpalimé, Togo, as well as Yadé, Togo, during this period. He traveled to Lomé occasionally during this time. In late December of 1974, he returned home to Madison, New Jersey.
