Prints and Drawings

Like the print by Alberto Beltrán and Pablo O’Higgins, this one by Francisco Mora celebrates the First Congress of Latin American Oil Workers. Standing larger than life above a triumphant slogan that reads, “First Congress of Latin American Oil Workers: for an oil industry at the service of humanity and for the sake of the people’s prosperity,” an oil worker—presumably one of a great many to attend the event—spreads his arms over the names and flags of the countries involved in the congress: Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, and Ecuador.
