Do you hear the distant rumble and roar?
You know, it was not in vain
For the industrial loan
That the saved roubles flowed!

You know, it was not in vain
After vigorous labor
The collective farms sent red convoys
To help rescue the cities!

Just look: on the water's surface
An iron mountain has been placed
Day by day and inch by inch
The Dnieprostoi is growing:

In the roar, in the thunder and in the din,
After the mines and bridges have been set up
When we pull the lever
There will be an everlasting reservoir

Over the turbulent slope
Against the grain it whines to us:
Through this granite wall
We will cut the path of the Dniepr-

And powerful streams
Untamed rivers
Will turn the turbine for us
May the flywheels twirl;

And of the powerful full strength
The boisterous messengers of life,
Waves of electricity
Will flow to all destinations!
