Obverse Description

Obverse Description: /TWO YEARS AFTER THE RATIFICATION OF A TREATY OF PEACE BETWEEN THE CONFEDERATE STATES AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/ around an image of the Richmond state capitol building. Printed vertically on the left side of the note is the word /FIVE/ and in the top right corner there is 5 in scrollwork surrounded by a medallion. In the bottom right corner is a bust r. Below the image, the note reads /THE CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA/ WILL PAY/ FIVE DOLLARS/ TO BEARER/ RICHMOND/FEBRUARY 17TH 1864. Another 5 at bottom center. To l. of 5 is signature above FOR REGISTER and to r. is signature above FOR TREASURER.

Reverse Description

Reverse Description: FIVE is written in scrollwork in center on the blue background. 5 in scrollwork in each of the four corners of the note. FIVE in scrollwork at top and bottom center of the note.
