Obverse Description

Obverse Description: Outer margin consists of "1000" written repeatedly. Inner margin has pattern of rectangles. In corners there is a small architectural feature. Inside Margin: top r. and l. corners has "1000" in rectangle frame. L. and r. sides/margins are doric? columns and on top runs embellished margin and reads "ETHNIKE TRAPEZA TES ELLADOS." "TRAPEZA TES ELLADOS" stamped in red ink above central medallion. Central medallion has a consists of portrait of Georgios Stavros that is flanked by scallops and design that holds "1000" on either side. Below central medallion "DRACHMAI CHILIAI" with design l. and r. "PLERWTEAI EPI TH EMFANISEI / ATHENESI TE 4 NOEMBRIOU 1926" written below On lower l. and r. of field "E'" for the Greek Epsilon "O TAMIAS / B Saridakes? (Signed)," "O DIOIKETES / Alex. N Diomedes (Signed)," "O EPITROPOS" No signature for epitropos (commissioner), instead there is red rectangle (stamp) that literature suggests that is to show that the note was cancelled. Background consists of green pattern in background and pink and green embellished design in foreground behind the medallion. Outside outer margin, below: "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY"

Reverse Description: Outer margin consists of "1000" written repeatedly. Inner margin has pattern of rectangles. In corners there is a small architectural feature. Inside Margin: top r. and l. corners has "1000" in a 6-point frame (angled) and bottom r. and r. corners "1000" in similar frame but not angled. Margins with wave pattern. In top margin "ETHNIKE TRAPEZA TES ELLADOS" in bottom additional margin that reads "1000 / EKDOSIS PEMPTE / 1000" with scallop design" In middle medalion, we have the Lion Gate in Mycenae, reads "PULE LEONTWN MUKENWN" and is flanked by two dorian columns. l. and r. of medallion reads "1000 / 1000 / 1000" Background consists of black pattern that also consists of vitruvian pattern. Outside outer margin, below: "AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY"
