Obverse Description

Obverse Description: Angels blowing trumpets fly above the palace of Versailles and a two young women; one, in classical garb, has her hands chained; the other, naked and kneeling, holds a lyre up in the air. Bottom left is the signature of the engraver: Paul Dbuois. The large legend reads: "LA BELGIQUE ROMPT SA NEUTRALITE" (Belgium breaks its neutrality" and a small legender to right reads: "TRAITE DE VERSAILLES/28 JUIN 1919" (Treaty of Versailles, June 28, 1919).

Reverse Description

Reverse Description: A soldier nude except for a loincloth and a cape holds a longsword in his right hand and a shield in his left. Beneath his feet lies a palm brach. The legend reads: "L'ARMEE BELGE PARTICIPE A LA GARDE DU RHIN." (The Belgian army participates in the guarding of the Rhine.)
