Inscriptions

Recto on paper under image in black ink: One March night in 1964 Kitty Genovese was stabbed and killed outside her apartment in Queens. Thirty-eight people heard her cries for help but no one called the police. \r\nEvery now and then I've found myself thinking about that place. Even though I had never seen the site an image of it came to me. \r\nThe countryside around Rome is dotted with crosses and small shrines where fatal automibe [sic] accidents have occurred. Families visit and leave flowers. \r\nReturning to America I found I could no longer ignore the unmarked scars in our landscape.
