Dianne Gregg purchased piece from Helen Barer, a collector of Americana in Chevy Chase, MD. Mrs. Barger told Ms. Gregg that a previous owner had been using it as a toothbrush holder. Ms. Gregg purchased it from Mrs. Barger about 1996.
