American Decorative Arts

S.I.T.E. is an architecture and environmental design collective based in New York. These plates are prototypes that did not go into production. One of the plates has a broad rim while the other has no rim, showing how the architects and retailer Swid Powell used models to develop their designs. The plate is completely covered in a transfer-printed image of the moon, taken from a scientific magazine. The selection of an image drawn from the natural world speaks to S.I.T.E.'s increased interest in sustainable and green architecture.
