In 2022 the Society of American Archivists (SAA) published Museum Archives: Practice, Issues, Advocacy. Edited by Rachel Chatalbash, Susan Hernandez, and Megan Schwenke, the book included contributions from 27 museum archivists and sought to provide guidance and share best practices while advocating for the central role and value of archives within museums. Prompted by this new publication, the Yale Center for British Art and the SAA’s Museum Archives Section cosponsor and cohost a one-day symposium to examine the current position and the future direction of the museum archives field.
