LeWitt and Lucier
Renowned composer Alvin Lucier directed a public performance at the Gallery of a new piece he wrote to commemorate fellow artist and dear friend Sol LeWitt. The composition, written in response to LeWitt's Wall Drawing #11, which is currently on view in the Gallery's lobby, was performed by four Yale School of Music students on October 18, 2007. In this Art Talk episode, Elyse chats with Lucier about his career and artistic inspiration and listens to the four-minute performance of Lucier's score. Seth Kim-Cohen, a lecturer in the History of Art, provides background on Lucier's great contributions to contemporary art and music.
