Master Classes
Throughout the year the Gallery offers various series of Master Classes, which give participants a behind-the-scenes look at the scholarly work inspired by the collection. Past classes have featured topics such as French and British painting, master drawings in the Prints, Drawings, and Photographs Study Room, and methods of conservation.

Family Programs
Families are encouraged to visit the Gallery and learn together about great works of art. Programs such as Artful Tales combine looking at art with hands-on activities for children. Family programs are led by museum education staff, often with the support of Yale undergraduates, and take place throughout the year. Please see our Calendar for programs and dates (specify “And . . .” under Event Category). For further information about family programs, please contact Elizabeth Harnett at 203.432.0620.

Performances
The visual arts have a long history of close association with music and the performing arts. Creative inspiration works in all directions, and the experience of listening to music or watching a performance in the Gallery promises to provide new ways of looking at works of art. Concerts and short theatrical plays by local and Yale college groups are featured in the Gallery throughout the year.

The Yale University Art Gallery seeks an active dialogue with the community and offers programming that brings participants into close contact with works of art—and the curators and museum staff who care for and interpret these objects. For a current schedule of programs and gallery talks, please see Calendar.
