Severini Futurista

Gino Severini’s career as a painter lasted into the second half of the twentieth century, but this exhibition focused on his years as a principal figure in the Futurist movement. The catalogue chronicles the landmark Futurist exhibition of 1912, which appeared in Paris, London, Berlin, and Brussels, as well as a solo exhibition at Alfred Stieglitz’s “291” Gallery in New York City. Reproductions of groundbreaking abstract paintings such as Bear Dance = Sailboat and Armored Train in Action (both 1915) are presented with a selection of postcards and letters written by the artist and a chronology of his life.

Charles Sheeler: American Interiors

Known as an “experimental museum” for modern art, the Société Anonyme provided a means for artists, rather than historians, to chronicle the rise of modernism. Led by Dreier and Duchamp, the group presented to the public a variety of innovative programs, publications, and exhibitions and eventually assembled a collection of more than one thousand works of art.
