Note 1: Hand-written inscriptions on the boxes and index cards that sold alongside the coin at Skinner and CNG suggest the coin was formerly with the Yale University Library. The circumstance of transfer of the coin from Yale’s collections is unclear. The Gallery welcomes information that would further clarify the coin’s ownership history.
