On view, 2nd floor, Asian Art

This cast-copper anthropomorphic figure, characterized by a large head, curled arms, and fishtail-like legs, is one of the most enigmatic objects to have been unearthed among the ancient copper hoards near the Ganges River. The hoards also included celts, harpoons, and other implements. Most likely, this figure had a religious or protective function.
