Obverse Description

Obverse Description: Above the main section of the note, AUSTRALIAN NOTE is printed. In each corner, 1 pound is printed. In the top centre of the note, COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA is printed above the serial numbers. Against a green background,ONE POUND/LEGAL TENDER IN THE COMMONWEALTH/ AND IN ALL TERRITORIES UNDER THE/CONTROL OF THE COMMONWEALTH is printed above the signatures. On the right side of the note, there is a bust l. of Queen Elizabeth II, printed on top of eucalyptus leaves. The background of the note is green microprint, which reads ONE POUND.

Reverse Description

Reverse Description: 1 pound is printed in each corner of the note. COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA is written underneath the images. There are four medallions depicted: on the far left, the medallion reads ONE/POUND. On the centre left, the medallion reads CHARLES STUART/1795-1869 and encircles a bust r. of Charles Sturt. The centre right medallion reads HAMILTON HUME/1797-1873 and encircles a bust l. of Hamilton Hume. The medallion on the far right reads JAMES COOK/ENDEAVOUR and encircles a bust faded watermark of a bust l. of Captain James Cook.
