The legendary Joshua Light Show (JLS), founded by artist Joshua White, is a group that began performing psychedelic projections at the Fillmore East rock club in New York City in 1967. Today, the JLS continues to advance the art of projected, reflected, and “liquid” light through digital technologies. For this performance at the Gallery, White presents a compilation of video work in light and sound by the JLS, George Stadnik, Laurent Fort, and other artists whose practices have been informed by Thomas Wilfred’s techniques and light compositions. As part of this immersive environment, visitors are invited to navigate the Gallery using Wilfred’s guiding principles of light and reflection. Presented in conjunction with the special exhibition Lumia: Thomas Wilfred and the Art of Light.
