Andrew Carnduff Ritchie Lecture, Glenn D. Lowry



Glenn D. Lowry, director of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, is a multifaceted scholar who writes on a range of topics from 16th-century Mughal art and architecture to the role of the museum in today’s society. Lowry discusses contemporary Islamic art and its relationship to the changing cultural and political forces that are shaping the Middle East.





The Ritchie lectures were established to honor the memory of Andrew Carnduff Ritchie, director of the Yale University Art Gallery from 1957 to 1971. These annual lectures, cosponsored by the Yale Center for British Art and the Yale University Art Gallery, bring to the University distinguished members of the international visual-arts community.
