Calligraphy Workshop

The demonstration will consist of two parts: first, he will emulate calligraphy by two men who established Japanese-style calligraphy during the tenth and eleventh centuries to let the audience see the norm; second, he will brush a contemporary calligraphy in his personal style derived from the so-called “flying white” technique of broken traces of ink (began by a Shingon sect of Buddhism KÅ«kai).

Those who signed up for the calligraphy workshop receive instructions from Mr. Okamoto and his assistants. Calligraphy materials are provided by the artist to disseminate the understanding of Japanese aesthetics in the world.
