Artist Talk, Artists Respond: Martin Puryear, Ursula von Rydingsvard, and Erwin Hauer in conversation with Jock Reynolds

Three internationally renowned artists join Jock Reynolds, the Henry J. Heinz II Director and co-curator of The Ceramic Presence in Modern Art: Selections from the Linda Leonard Schlenger Collection and the Yale University Art Gallery, for a conversation about the themes explored in the exhibition. Martin Puryear, B.F.A. 1971, M.F.A. 1971, Hon. 1994, and Ursula von Rydingsvard sculpt with a deep sensitivity to materials and are widely known for their elemental, often vessel-like forms. Erwin Hauer, Art.S. 1957, Hon. 1983, who was Puryear’s teacher and has long been affiliated with the Yale School of Art, traverses art and design worlds with his carefully wrought, modular forms. Followed by a reception. Generously sponsored by the Hayden Visiting Artist Fund.
