“We brought Kerstin's grandfather, dressed in a brown vest and coat and black Homburg, from the home at Axvall to his farm here for the day.
He can just see the outline of large objects, so he walked very cautiously until he arrived. Then he said he did not need more help, having lived here all his life,
and that he would like to walk by himself, which he did-down the gravel drive, then to the barn, and finally back up and around the house. It was a slow walk
(neither Kerstin nor I could help looking on), and interrupted by many pauses of a minute or more when he would carefully listen. To me, the sound was of the wind
through the trees—the day was blowing and overcast—but there were obviously sounds only he could hear. It was one of the most moving sights I have ever seen.”
